It's normal for a transaction's amount in Vergo to differ from your receipt while the charge is still settling. Here's why, and when it resolves on its own.
Authorization vs. settlement
When you swipe your card, the bank places an authorization (a hold) for an estimated amount. A day or more later, the merchant settles the charge for the final amount. Vergo shows the authorized amount while the transaction is Pending, then updates it to the final amount once it settles.
Common reasons the amount changes
Tips and adjustments — restaurants and services often authorize the pre-tip amount, then settle the higher total.
Pre-authorization holds — hotels, rental cars, and fuel pumps authorize an estimate (or a flat hold) that differs from the final charge.
Partial captures — the merchant ships or bills only part of the order.
What to do
If the transaction is still Pending, wait for it to settle — the amount will update to match the final charge.
Most charges settle within 1–3 business days (occasionally up to 5). Pre-auth holds for hotels, rentals, and fuel can take longer to finalize.
If a settled amount still looks wrong compared to your receipt, contact support with the transaction URL and the receipt.
⚠️ Note: a different amount on a Pending transaction is expected and isn't an error — it almost always resolves itself once the charge settles.
